Looking Good Equals Feeling Good By Melanie of Angie’s New Angles
Everyone knows the difference that a nice hot shower can bring, especially if you are not feeling well. Many times Seniors find keeping up a regular grooming routine to be very challenging. Both women and men can benefit from improving their appearance to feel more ‘normal’.
Grooming is an essential ingredient for a good quality of life at any age. Feeling clean and looking neat is especially important to maintaining a healthy outlook and contributing to our sense of self.
Tips for Women:
If a trip to the salon is part of your normal routine, make arrangements to continue.
Keep your hair easy to style so that there is not a lot of daily maintenance.
If you have a friend, Mother, Aunt, Grandmother who can no longer make it out on her own, help them keep their appointments so they like what they see when they look in the mirror. Some stylists will come to your home – call the salon to find out.
Continue to maintain nail care & health with shorter nails. Manicures and pedicure are soothing and fun.
Make-up is essential to many women’s well being. If your loved one is used to putting on ‘her face’, encourage and assist her to continue that. Try simplifying the routine to lipstick & powder so that they don’t lose their sparkle.
If you are living in a new area or need to find a new salon call to see if they specialize in Senior hair styles.
Tips for Men:
Shaving may be challenging. Switch to clippers or begin visiting the Barber or Salon to help with Facial Hair Grooming Care.
If you are unable to go to the Barber, it is possible to have one come to you.
If you have trouble bathing, find a caregiver to help with it and make it easier. You’ll be glad that you did.
At Angie’s New Angles in Mechanicsburg we offer in-home and facility visits. We know the importance of feeling good and maintaining your appearance. Our salon is handicap accessible and we also dedicate Wednesdays to Seniors.
